The reporting deadline for National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) is fast approaching, with all 2018–19 emissions and energy reports due by midnight (AEDT) Thursday, 31 October 2019. As this reporting deadline is a statutory deadline, no extensions will be granted.
A reminder that a deadline of Thursday, 31 October 2019 also applies to responsible emitters under the safeguard mechanism submitting their 2018–19 emissions baseline applications, unless planning to access the extension that has been provided for in recent amendments to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Safeguard Mechanism) Rule 2015.
These amendments extend the 2018–19 baseline application deadline to 15 April 2020 for facilities with a declared multi-year period, that covers the 2018–19 and 2019–20 compliance years. This is intended to allow time for responsible emitters to adopt newly established government-determined prescribed production variables, which are currently being set by the Department of the Environment and Energy and should be available in the new year.
Further information can be found in the explanatory statement for this latest amendment, or please contact the Clean Energy Regulator.
