Latest data published for RET exempt activities

02 May 2019

The Clean Energy Regulator has published 2018 emissions-intensive trade-exposed (EITE) information.

A 100 per cent of electricity used for EITE activities is exempt from Renewable Energy Target costs. Companies that conduct an EITE activity and complete the application process, if eligible, are issued an EITE exemption certificate by the Clean Energy Regulator. The exemption certificate can be traded with their electricity retailer (liable entity) to reduce the EITE entity's electricity costs for the year.

The new data includes the:

  • latest exemption certificates issued
  • amount of exemption issued by activity, and
  • amount of exemption for each liable entity.

The data will make it easier for scheme participants to understand how exemptions are administered.

See EITE published information to access the data.
