The Clean Energy Regulator is finalising preparations for the 2019 Power Station Audit Program. Our Audit Program runs annually and uses greenhouse and energy auditors registered under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007.
Nominated persons selected for audit will shortly receive a notification informing them of the details of the program.
Our 2018 audit program focused on smaller power stations (predominantly rooftop commercial and industrial solar installations).
Common issues identified related to poor recordkeeping, particularly accreditation documentation and supporting evidence for large-scale generation certificate (LGC) creation. All nominated persons should ensure they are meeting their requirements with respect to recordkeeping under section 160 of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000. The program also identified a number of instances of best practice.
For nominated persons audited in 2018, thank you for your co-operation and participation. We trust you found the process useful and were able to gain some additional awareness of your responsibilities under the scheme.
This year, we are focusing on larger, more complex power stations. Of particular interest are power stations with multiple fuel sources and complex metering arrangements and LGC methodologies.
While auditor costs are borne by the agency, we appreciate any audit process may impose additional time and resource burden. We would like to work with you to ensure a smooth and productive outcome for all.
We take an active approach to compliance. Further information about our compliance and enforcement approach, including our compliance, education and enforcement policy is available on our website.
