Under the Renewable Energy Target we publish a range of data on emissions-intensive trade-exposed (EITE) activities. This includes details on exemption certificates we issue to companies to help reduce their liability for large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) and small-scale technology certificates (STCs).

From 2010 to 2014, we issued partial exemption certificates. Since 2015 we have issued full exemption certificates.

Latest exemption certificates issued

This data shows exemption certificates we issued, including cancelled certificates. This includes certificates amended by us or the company.

We publish this information within 14 days of issuing an exemption certificate.

Amount of exemption used by liable entities

Amount of exemption used by liable entities is the exemption certificates used by liable entities (generally electricity retailers) for their annual reporting purposes. This data is published by 1 October following the year of exemption.

The data is subject to revisions after 1 October to reflect changes to exemption certificates and changes the liable entity’s reduced relevant acquisitions of electricity.

Amount of exemption issued by activity

This data shows the estimated amount of exemption we issued for EITE activities.

We publish this information by 30 March after the application year. We may revise this data if exemption certificates are issued or amended.
